Today, I’m headed to Miami Heart Gallery’s annual photo shoot. They request volunteer photographers in Miami to help get foster children adopted. I absolutely LOVE doing this for the kids every year. Last year the 3 kids I photographed were chosen by their forever families. One is still pending but Patience and Treasure are ADOPTED! I get so excited when I see that red banner that says ”adopted” on the site. It means someone chose them.
As a foster mom, I’ve seen way too many kids that don’t have a forever home. They bounce from home to home, some til they turn 18. It is not an easy thing to see. Thankfully as a family photographer, I can use my talents to get children like this into their forever homes. I won’t stop at just fostering. God brought me down this path. I wasn’t able to have biological children, obviously for a reason. Being part of the foster care system has given me such joy in spite of all the trauma. I get to have lots of children and help many more. This community needs people. It needs people like you and me, regular people with talents and abilities. You don’t have to be a foster parent to help a foster child. If you’re following me on Instagram and Facebook, sign up when I post about needing volunteers. It is the most rewarding experience. I’m always calling out for more photographers in Miami because there is a huge need here.
As I walk into today’s photo shoot and look in the eyes of the next children I photograph, I’m thinking about getting that email that they have been adopted. I’m already jumping for joy. But for now, congratulations Patience and Treasure. May God give you many years of joy with your new family. And may you always know that you are loved.
