This post is a little different than others. It’s pretty personal but I realized that it could be very helpful to other parents in Miami. As parents we have to juggle a lot. I find myself saying “one day” a lot. “One day we’ll go.” “One day I’ll take them.” “One day they’ll do it.” But one day they’ll be in college. One day they’ll have their own families. One day they’ll be out of my house. Today is a perfect day to play with them.

This summer, I took a mini break from editing, SEO, promoting, and all other business related stuff to be with my kids. Having lupus, it was not easy for me to become a mom and I’m so grateful for this gift. Every day it gets harder to carry my growing girls because they’re getting so heavy. I realize that time goes by really quickly and I just want to enjoy every moment. They’re usually in school and day care and barely have days off so I wanted to give them a great summer break. As a photographer, I’m usually working on the behind the scenes of running a business. I’m networking, meeting clients, editing on the computer, etc. But I’m also a mom and I’m truly grateful to own that title. This summer is just 1 of 15 more summers before my youngest is an adult and they’ll likely be in college so I wanted to just watch them laugh and play. I looked online for things to do in Miami and found several places that were perfect for my girls’ age group. They’re 3 & 5 and surprisingly there are lots of fun things available for them in South Florida. As a photographer, I really enjoyed finding little spots for quick snaps on my phone. My biggest regret was not taking my big-girl camera.
It was pretty cool finding things to do and planning my weeks to make them happy. Read on to see how I’m incorporating this into my family photography business. I’m helping more families experience days like this while I photograph you. Keep scrolling to see how.
The kids loved Frost Science Museum. We had been there before and my eldest kept rushing us to get to the exhibit where you pet the stingrays. It was on the top floor and I had to keep promising her that we’d get there. We walked up exhibit to exhibit. It truly is a beautiful and fun place for kids and adults. It’s very educational but in a really fun way.
Doing all these activities with my kids got me thinking business as most things usually do. I though of how fun it would be to photograph families doing these fun activities in South Florida. Kids grow so fast. We all know that. Unfortunately, we don’t realize it until time has past. Moments like this are why we have kids. We don’t have them so we can keep them in day care or school to just enjoy them on the weekends. Having memories like this are priceless and I want to be a part of bringing experiences like this to more families in South Florida. I’m working on building partnerships with several locations to bring families special admission perks and benefits if we choose to use their location as our “studio.”
We went to the movies, ice skating, indoor playgrounds, children’s museum, the pool, beach, and so many other places. I’m so happy that I got to give this opportunity to the kids while they still want to do it with me. I only brought my phone camera with me because I really didn’t want to carry around my big camera so I could be present. But I’m kicking myself because there’s nothing like professional pictures in an album of these beautiful moments. I want them to remember these days forever. I’m always momming. I say no a lot, and don’t let them get away with much. But when I get to say yes, even I like myself more.

Museum Garage in Design District was absolutely incredible. From the entrance to the 7th floor, we found amazing areas to use as backdrops. But I’ll save these for your photo session.
